HK Express has inaugurated a new direct daily air service between Hong Kong and Wuxi, a significant city in Jiangsu Province. This latest addition boosts the airline's presence in mainland China, bringing its total number of destinations to six. The new connection links Hong Kong International Airport with Wuxi Shuofang Airport, with flights lasting approximately two and a half hours.
This expanded service is designed to improve accessibility between Hong Kong and the strategically important Yangtze River Delta region, offering more choices for individuals traveling for professional reasons, holidays, or visiting family. Flights are scheduled to depart from Hong Kong in the afternoon, arriving in Wuxi by early evening, while return journeys from Wuxi are planned for nighttime. Additionally, through a codeshare agreement with Cathay Pacific, travelers from Wuxi and the broader southern Jiangsu area can now access a wider international network via Hong Kong.
Wuxi, renowned for its rich Jiangnan cultural heritage, picturesque scenery, and thriving modern industries, offers numerous attractions for visitors. Notable sites include Yuantouzhu, the majestic Lingshan Grand Buddha, the historic Huishan Ancient Town, and the vibrant Qingming Bridge Historical and Cultural Block. Jeanette Mao, CEO of HK Express, stated that this new route aligns with the airline's strategic growth in mainland China, providing travelers with more affordable and convenient travel solutions connecting Hong Kong, Wuxi, and Eastern China. The inaugural flight was celebrated at Hong Kong International Airport with a special erhu performance by virtuoso Xu Hui of the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, honoring Wuxi's cultural legacy as the “Hometown of the Erhu”. Upon arrival at Wuxi Shuofang Airport, the flight received a traditional water salute and a warm local welcome, underscoring the route's cultural and economic significance.
