Kinesis Unveils New RTD Endurance Aluminum Frameset, Challenging Carbon Performance

Instructions

Kinesis has recently launched its innovative RTD endurance aluminum road frameset, aiming to deliver a riding experience that rivals the performance of carbon alternatives. This new offering from Kinesis, a brand known for crafting robust and affordable bikes for long-distance riding, seeks to combine high performance with exceptional value, enhanced durability, and practical usability for cyclists.

The RTD frameset, priced at £950, integrates an aluminum frame with a carbon fork, disc brakes, and an endurance-oriented geometry, accommodating tires up to 34mm. A key feature is the use of Super Plastic Forming (SPF) technology, which allows for lighter tubing and more intricate frame designs than traditional hydroforming methods. Weighing in at an impressive 1,400g for a 51cm frame, the RTD positions itself as a versatile, four-season road frameset, following the legacy of Kinesis's acclaimed 4S platform. The frameset also boasts internal routing for brake hoses and dynamo cables, adaptable cable ports for various drivetrain configurations, and a 12mm thru-axle, making it highly adaptable for different riding needs.

While maintaining a tire clearance of 34mm (or 30mm with mudguards), aligning with many popular endurance models, the RTD's geometry has been carefully refined to offer a balanced blend of responsiveness and stability, ensuring confident and predictable handling. Available in seven sizes from 48cm to 60cm, and featuring an oversized downtube, flared top tube, and tapered head tube for stiffness, complemented by a 27.2mm seatpost and flattened seat stays for comfort, the frameset is presented in a distinct Pepper Red with black graphics. Kinesis supports this new model with a five-year warranty on the frame and a one-year warranty on the forks, highlighting their confidence in its build quality and longevity.

This launch represents Kinesis's ongoing commitment to pushing the boundaries of aluminum bike design, proving that high-performance cycling is accessible without compromising on quality or experience. It encourages riders to consider the merits of advanced aluminum framesets as a viable, and perhaps superior, alternative to carbon for their endurance cycling pursuits, fostering a broader appreciation for engineering excellence in the cycling community.
