The updated trailer, a four-minute spectacle, broadened the view of Coco's world and showcased Sora's skirmishes against the new Heartless iterations within Quadratum. Beyond Sora's adventures, it hinted at segments where players would control Donald and Goofy in Coco's realm, battling foes independently. Additionally, Mickey Mouse's platforming sequences in his unique world were highlighted, described by Yasue as having a "puzzle-based game design" reminiscent of Paper Mario, featuring transformations into various origami forms.
Sora's Evolved Combat and Unveiled Mysteries
Sora remains a central figure, with battles retaining the series' signature action-RPG flair. A notable change sees him fighting alongside characters beyond Donald and Goofy, such as Hector and Miguel from Coco, as briefly shown in the trailer. First teased in 2022, Kingdom Hearts 4 saw further details emerge earlier this year, notably concluding June's Nintendo Direct and Disney's D23 showcase. The latter confirmed a late 2027 release for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X, a commitment reinforced by Yasue and Nomura. Furthermore, a Kingdom Hearts anime is in development for Disney Plus, though its release timeframe remains undisclosed.
