Over the course of the 50-day event, the Minnesota track demonstrated a robust performance, reflecting growing interest and engagement from the public.
The season showcased exceptional individual achievements within the sport. Trainer Mac Robertson secured his 17th Thoroughbred training title, accumulating 49 victories and nearly a million dollars in purse earnings. Jockey Manuel Americano, in his inaugural season at the meet, dominated with 76 wins and over $1.49 million in purses, including two triumphs on the final day. Furthermore, John Mentz of Lakeville led the owner standings with 27 winners from 106 starts. The track also reported a 9% rise in daily attendance, averaging 5,234 spectators, and a 5% growth in daily average handle. The concluding Saturday's nine-race card alone generated over $1.2 million in wagers. Frosty View, a 5-year-old Minnesota-bred, was crowned 'Horse of the Meet' for the second consecutive year, having won three of five races, including prestigious events like the Brooks Fields Mile and the Ralph Strangis Allowance, also earning titles for older horse and grass horse. Joel Berndt, Frosty View's trainer, also guided 'Sprinter of the Meet' Street Warrior and '3-year-old of the Meet' That Type Ofa Deal to success.
Looking ahead, Canterbury Park management anticipates a similar racing schedule for 2027 and plans to submit their dates application to the Minnesota Racing Commission this autumn, aiming to build on the momentum of the successful 2026 season.
